Curriculum
Holistic Yoga draws insights and gifts from various traditions that have contributed to our understanding of modern yoga, enabling graduates to offer a well-rounded and authentic class. The philosophy of holistic yoga is to address all aspects of a person’s health; mental, physical, and subtle.
While eclectic and contemporary, our approach is strongly rooted in the philosophical teachings and scriptures that have been handed down through the generations. We also draw on many worldly traditions and natural health practices to offer a well-rounded and authentic curriculum. Particular emphasis is placed on a holistic approach, energetic awareness including chakra & meridian systems, earth medicine, artistic expression, ethnobotany, herbalism, dietetic health, yoga as medicine, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, Seva work / community involvement and sustainable natural living. Importance of meditation is emphasized and practiced daily throughout. The Yoga Asana and Art of Teaching Yoga emphasizes spinal alignment and physical integrity.
The 24-day course will provide you with a profound understanding of the anatomical and philosophical underpinnings of Yoga. You’ll deepen your own knowledge of the practice and of yourself, and thoroughly prepare yourself to help others do the same.
