Holistic Yoga

Holistic Yoga is derived from various traditions and contemporary arts. The philosophy of holistic yoga is to address all aspects of a person’s health; mental, physical, and subtle.

With insights from Sadhana Yoga, beyond the forms and traditions, focus is on the essence of yoga which is an instrument to reveal a greater sense of harmony and serenity. In a moving meditation we build strength and endurance while at the same time creating a sense of calm and quiet.

The Holistic Asana approach follows a guideline format which suggests a few basic principles to make a balanced and whole yoga class, including meditation, intention/mantra, pranayama (breathing exercises), and asana (yoga postures). We use Whole Yoga Guidelines when developing Hatha, Vinyasa or Restorative classes. We can also modify the class sequences to emphasize specific postures (e.g. a back-bending or hip-opening), or create specialty classes to meet the needs of the students (Pre-Natal, Children’s Yoga, Physical Limitations, etc.)

Merging breath, balance, flexibility and strength, students learn self-healing techniques and find depth in their practice through these classes. Spinal integrity and bodily alignment are emphasized.

All students are welcome, beginner to advanced. Posture modifications are offered so students may find the desired level of intensity for their practice.
